Located just minutes from Hotel Restaurante Salbatore, the Aralar Natural Park is one of the most iconic spaces in the Basque Country. Covering nearly 11,000 hectares, this park offers a unique landscape of valleys, mountains, forests, and meadows, making it an ideal destination for nature and hiking lovers.
Aralar is renowned for its impressive karst landscape, featuring mountains, caves, and underground rivers. Across its territory, you can find a wide variety of flora and fauna species, many of them protected, such as the “ardi mutur gorri” sheep, used to produce the famous Idiazabal cheese. Beech forests and mountain pastures cover much of the park, creating a naturally beautiful environment.
In addition to its natural wealth, Aralar is rich in history and culture. You can explore megalithic monuments and, if you are passionate about archaeology, discover remains dating back more than 3,500 years. The park is also surrounded by Basque legends and myths, intertwining reality and tradition.
Aralar offers many options for enjoying nature, such as hiking, cycling, and climbing. The most well-known access points are from Larraitz in the north and Lizarrusti in the south. From the Parketxe at Lizarrusti, visitors can get information and enjoy an interpretation center, restaurant, and hostel.
With its wide range of activities, stunning landscapes, and great cultural value, the Aralar Natural Park is a must-visit during your stay at Hotel Restaurante Salbatore, located just 30 minutes away by car.
Perched high in the Aralar mountain range, the Sanctuary of San Miguel in Excelsis is one of the oldest and most spiritual treasures of Navarre.
Simple hotel, perfect for sleeping and resting — no need to ask for more. Extraordinary people, very kind and highly professional, great dining service. Ideal location if you want to explore the Basque Country, just an hour's drive from all major sites. I’ll be back.
A very peaceful hotel to disconnect. The staff is very attentive and helpful. Daniela is such a sweetheart, always attentive and ready to recommend places to visit — truly charming. The food was exquisite, a 10! Those croquettes… ummm! I’d definitely come back. Thanks to all the hotel staff. Greetings and big hugs from a girl from the Canary Islands.
The friendliest hotel staff I’ve ever met. Daniela is pure charm and sweetness, and Jon gives you incredible tips on places to visit and where to park. I’ll recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Basque Country, and if I ever return, I’ll definitely stay again. The breakfasts and dinners were fabulous. In short, a 10 out of 10.
We went to this hotel for a tournament. The staff was the best — super friendly and lovely, they treated us wonderfully. The restaurant surprised us: good food with generous portions at an affordable price. Clean and comfortable rooms.
Wonderful stay at the hotel: very comfortable and clean beds. TV and A/C were perfect for comfort. Storage space was great, although the hangers were very old. Lighting was excellent. The bathroom was very clean, although there were no towel hooks for the shower.
