We Basques have a great passion for the mountains, and in the Goierri region two of the most emblematic races in the Trail Running world are held: the Zegama-Aizkorri marathon and the Ehunmillak Ultra-Trail, along with the G2H Trail and the Marimurumendi marathon, all taking place over the same weekend.
The Trail Station of Euskal Herria has three entry points:
The station offers five new trails divided between Aralar and the Urbasa and Andia ranges, plus a total of 16 trails across both Natural Parks. The two entry points in Gipuzkoa (Zegama and Abaltzisketa) are connected by a 35 km route, enabling a complete Trail Running experience.
Additionally, the station has training circuits simulating the vertical kilometers to Aizkorri, Txindoki and Beriain, as well as the full course of the Zegama-Aizkorri marathon and part of the Ehunmilak Ultra-Trail. Each facility is equipped with showers, changing rooms, and a gym for warm-ups and complementary exercises.
A team of specialized personnel, including elite runners, offers training services and route information. Although the routes are marked, the use of a GPS device is mandatory, as adverse weather conditions can complicate some areas even for local runners.
At the end of your Trail Running day, you can relax at the Hotel Salbatore in Beasain. This cozy hotel offers 14 comfortable rooms and a delicious continental breakfast to start your day full of energy before exploring all the treasures that Goierri and its surroundings have to offer.

The friendliest hotel staff I’ve ever met. Daniela is pure charm and sweetness, and Jon gives you incredible tips on places to visit and where to park. I’ll recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Basque Country, and if I ever return, I’ll definitely stay again. The breakfasts and dinners were fabulous. In short, a 10 out of 10.
We went to this hotel for a tournament. The staff was the best — super friendly and lovely, they treated us wonderfully. The restaurant surprised us: good food with generous portions at an affordable price. Clean and comfortable rooms.
Wonderful stay at the hotel: very comfortable and clean beds. TV and A/C were perfect for comfort. Storage space was great, although the hangers were very old. Lighting was excellent. The bathroom was very clean, although there were no towel hooks for the shower.
